Dreams

We usually don't stop to enjoy the simple things in life, so it was good to go to one of the many parks in Auckland and chill out after work - doing nothing except feel the cool grass on my back, watch the trees and the birds, soak up the sun and watch the world go by. The clarity of mind and feelings achieved through doing that has been good - I definitely needed it.

It's funny how as kids we have all these dreams and ambitions which we pursue with a singular intent in  pursuit of an ideal world. But then you grow up and the world wears you down - the goal posts change and the dreams and ambitions disappear and all you do is shrug and accept it. The more you fight for what you believe in the harder the fall is and then you don't have anyone to pick you up either. The lucky few who do live their dreams and achieve what they set out to do are the ones who end up influencing the course of history.

Now I've forgotten what I was trying to say and looking back at the last paragraph -  it reads very cynical. Maybe that's it - maybe I'm turning cynical and it is a struggle fighting it. Just when you think this is it, I can't fight anymore - you have a moment which grabs you by the soul and reminds you why you dream in the first place.

A freelance edit job starts from tomorrow. Let's see how things proceed on that - hopefully it'll lead to more projects.

That's me for now,

Stumped

The 18mm lens for the LX3 has arrived and it's exciting. Simon - one of my flatties got a couple of free passes to the Women's ATP Tennis event earlier this week and we went & checked it out. It was a nice evening

I've got a sprained left ankle and half a broken toe-nail on my right leg from playing beach soccer at the picnic we had for the friends club yesterday evening {more pics to come once I get them off Chloe's camera}. Nothing too serious I suppose. :-)

Here are a couple of pics Benji took from the hotpot dinner I had on Christmas evening at back of Benji's dairy with Vincent, Vicki, Shuzhen and Benji. I love hotpot - proves really cost effective and you get to eat a whole heap of different dishes.

Nothing much to add really except that it is nice to have sun. Summers are great.

2011

Time for new year resolutions and this is the first time I've made a whole bunch of them, some are inter-connected and some are not - let's see how it works out this year. In the meantime the experimenting with LX3 has started in earnest and here are the first few results

Till later,
