Re-engineered

Scientists across the world are scrambling to re-engineer cocoa as the demand for it grows because of India and China's increasing chocolate consumption. The price is supposed to go up from $1 to $11 within 5 years if nothing is done about it. Let it happen I say - that way a diabetes endemic across the world be controlled by financial buying prowess.

Kathryn Burnett runs awesome screen writing workshops and I attended the 1 day advanced screen writing one yesterday and it turned out to be a great experience. Going into it I wasn't sure if film making is for me anymore but after the workshop there seems to be some hope for me still. There were also a lot of random meetings with people I didn't expect to see or meet which made me realize that I am not as invisible as I think I am.

That's me for now.

On The Road

Busy times as usual at work - wish I was travelling though. Reading 'Lady and the Monk' - which is turning out to be an amazing read.

I gave into the temptation and bought myself a wide angle lens for my LX3. I was tossing and turning about getting a small camera with good zoom lens to negate the drawback of LX3 but then decided that I actually wanted to go wider with my compositions and ended up buying the lens from a US website. The price differential and the strong kiwi dollar meant it didn't make any sense buying the lens locally.

Yesterday's acting workshop got postponed till tomorrow and have to recast a role for another scene as one of the actors pulled out because of time commitment. 5 more scenes left to do. Sigh!!!!!

Attending a screen-writing workshop this coming Saturday to kick start the creative process - which was getting stagnated because of everything else happening with life.

That's me for now.

November already

Holy shit - it's November already. Time flies whether you are having fun or not.

Beer is the last thing you expect to get offered when you finish a half marathon or a marathon at 8 AM but that's exactly what happened when I was wandering around the various tents set up at the finish line. Not that I ran a half marathon or anything - I was only there to support Nick - a friend who was running the half marathon. It was surprising seeing the number of people taking part in the event.

Marathon or Half Marathon?

Down Low

 Gotta keep running

Nick running like it was a 100 meter dash

Over the weekend was the Diwali festival and man was it crowded or what. It's only once a year that you see so many Indians packed into one area for a social occasion. Cheap snacks is what always draws me to the festival and this year was no different.

Big Little City

The crowds packing Aotea square

Watching a performance

 People buying food

Other than that busy times at work and the ongoing struggle to get remaining scenes for 'The Moments' in the can.

Fitness is on track still - bodyfat dropping to 9% with the weight at 62KG. Not sure that my temptation to run a half marathon is a good idea as a) I hate running on concrete or on roads, b) it goes against my fitness goals c) it is an expensive proposition of sorts in terms of time & discipline (especially with my rostered shifts) and d) this article has a very valid point.

That's me for now,
